What to Expect

We believe scripture offers us a simple outline of events that should characterize the local church assembly. We find them in passages such as the following:

Acts 2:42 And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.

1 Peter 4:10 As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace:

Colossians 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.

Therefore, our times of public worship consist of the exaltation of Jesus Christ through teaching/preaching, praying, singing, fellowship, giving, and serving. We desire that Christ is magnified throughout the entirety of our corporate worship and individual lives.

We believe the Word of God is our sole source for faith and practice. According to 2 Timothy 3:16, the Word of God is effective for teaching, reproof, correction and training in righteousness. Therefore, we believe an exegetical approach to the proclamation of Scripture is the best model. We will strive to proclaim Scripture first in its original context and then bridge the gap to our modern culture by means of application.

While the above are our emphases here at Cornerstone Church, we also realize that there are some secondary issues about which you might like more information.

We desire through our corporate singing to magnify Christ. We as well believe that the biblical mandate is to sing to one another. Therefore, we will strive to sing music that is Christ honoring, biblically sound, and congregationally conducive. The style of music at Cornerstone is primarily contemporary.

Church Polity

We are an independent church, with elder leadership, deacon ministry and congregational involvement.

We recognize that there are many excellent English translations of the Bible. The primary version used in the public reading and preaching of Cornerstone is the English Standard Version (ESV).

While the dress at Cornerstone could best be described as business casual, we would simply ask that one attire themselves in a modest fashion.
